Chapter 9

Daniel was used to people always thinking he’d been under the influence at one point or another. Of course some of those times he really had been, but this was torture because he was hurting pretty badly. The beeping of the machines he was attached too was annoying, and it only made his head hurt that much more. They were withholding pain meds pending a few tests to confirm he wasn’t on any drugs or drunk when he got in the accident. Didn’t seem to matter that he didn’t appear to be intoxicated. He was also annoyed that they wouldn’t let him have any visitors. He was so relieved when he woke up in the hospital and nothing was seriously wrong. Not having the use of his arm was going to be a pain in the ass, but at least he was alive.

The one thing he wanted right now was to see Jemma. The fact that she was the first one he could think about after the accident really spoke louder than words.

He needed to tell Jemma how he really felt the next time he saw her. This was a wakeup call. A wakeup call that he took life for granted. Who knew whether he would get a tomorrow or not?
